First, I have to tell you about my first attempt at putting in sponge curlers. I went and bought some the week before Halloween and decided to try them out on a random week day so that if things didn’t go well, or Kaili couldn’t sleep on them and took them out during the night, she wouldn’t be walking around in public looking scary. So, I curled Kaili’s hair during our Wednesday Girl’s Night, forgetting that “Begger’s Night” here is on Thursday. (Yes, I think the name is ridiculous, and the fact that it is always on Thursday from 6 to 8 is also ridiculous.) It didn’t turn out how I had imagined, but it did look pretty cute! =P
Luckily Kaili loved the curlers and wore them for almost 24 hours before letting me take them out. Here’s right after taking out the curlers.
The finished product. Can you say afro-chick? I swear all I did was run my fingers through it. I couldn’t stop laughing!
This year Kaili decided she wanted to be a purple mermaid (not purple mayonnaise like my mom thought she said over the phone). Randomly, Courtney had been a mermaid several years ago so my mom sent me a costume for an 8 year old and said I could alter it. I was really excited until I realized that my sewing machine hates this sparkly fabric. It was a process but I managed to make it fit little Miss Kaili. She was ecstatic!
I don’t see the point in buying costumes for babies so I was excited that Dan’s sister gave us a hand-me-down giraffe costume. With her whole body covered, Averi looked like a boy so I put a bow on the giraffe’s antler and called it good.
Kaili was too excited about trick or treating with the neighbor boys to turn towards the camera.
Dan went as himself, a Longhorns fan.
Our ward party was Friday night at a member’s house and it was a lot of fun. There was pumpkin bowling, a bonfire to roast hotdogs and marshmallows, and horse rides! Kaili rode the horse twice and LOVED it. I swear that girl’s not afraid of anything. She even liked her curls enough that she asked me to curl her hair again.

We had a great Halloween, minus the fact that I can’t eat any chocolate (darn milk). Well, there's always next year.

They are so cute in their costumes! That would be torture to go trick or treating without eating any of the chocolate :(

Soooo cute! We kept checking the blog since Sunday, when we talked to you! That was quite the trick to wait so long, but it was worth it! I love how girly Kili is: wearing curlers, posing for the camera, and wearing sparkly stuff! Averi looks so adorable and content. Did you give her a lick of candy?

Such cute treaters! Where my Mom and Dad live, the different towns have assigned nights for tirck or treating, sometimes a week before. Dumb
