Trick or Treat

The Trick is that I made you wait almost two weeks for this post and the Treat is pictures of my little Halloweeners!

First, I have to tell you about my first attempt at putting in sponge curlers. I went and bought some the week before Halloween and decided to try them out on a random week day so that if things didn’t go well, or Kaili couldn’t sleep on them and took them out during the night, she wouldn’t be walking around in public looking scary. So, I curled Kaili’s hair during our Wednesday Girl’s Night, forgetting that “Begger’s Night” here is on Thursday. (Yes, I think the name is ridiculous, and the fact that it is always on Thursday from 6 to 8 is also ridiculous.) It didn’t turn out how I had imagined, but it did look pretty cute! =PLuckily Kaili loved the curlers and wore them for almost 24 hours before letting me take them out. Here’s right after taking out the curlers.

The finished product. Can you say afro-chick? I swear all I did was run my fingers through it. I couldn’t stop laughing!
This year Kaili decided she wanted to be a purple mermaid (not purple mayonnaise like my mom thought she said over the phone). Randomly, Courtney had been a mermaid several years ago so my mom sent me a costume for an 8 year old and said I could alter it. I was really excited until I realized that my sewing machine hates this sparkly fabric. It was a process but I managed to make it fit little Miss Kaili. She was ecstatic!
I don’t see the point in buying costumes for babies so I was excited that Dan’s sister gave us a hand-me-down giraffe costume. With her whole body covered, Averi looked like a boy so I put a bow on the giraffe’s antler and called it good.
Kaili was too excited about trick or treating with the neighbor boys to turn towards the camera.
Dan went as himself, a Longhorns fan.
Our ward party was Friday night at a member’s house and it was a lot of fun. There was pumpkin bowling, a bonfire to roast hotdogs and marshmallows, and horse rides! Kaili rode the horse twice and LOVED it. I swear that girl’s not afraid of anything. She even liked her curls enough that she asked me to curl her hair again.
Two of Kaili’s friends: Saydria Wonder Woman and Kai the Pirate. (You gotta love Kai’s smile face!)
We had a great Halloween, minus the fact that I can’t eat any chocolate (darn milk). Well, there's always next year.

Sushi Anyone?

Please don't mind my sudden blog vomit - I was sick for a week and got behind on my posting. =P

My latest cake creation:
Happy Birthday Stephanie!

Halloween Cuties

I can’t stop taking pictures of my two little cuties!Kaili wanted to sit on the pumpkin.
Averi was not a fan of the cold sidewalk, but Kaili didn't let that mess up her pose.

Oh well, maybe next time.

K-Wal-Mart

Yes, you heard me correctly. K-Wal-Mart is the name of Kaili’s new store. She loves setting out toys on the coffee table (the store), making Dad ride the fake pony to her store, and asking for money (old gift cards) in exchange for a toy.The catch is that you can’t buy a toy that she really likes, even if it’s laid out on the table. She will, however, offer you the cheaper, uglier, not as fun version.

Chipotle

I have discovered a new love since moving to Ohio…Chipotle! Who doesn’t love a burrito rolled so full of the perfect combination of food that you can’t fit it in your mouth? Recently I have been craving it even more because, get this, I can eat it even while adhering to my strict no allergy diet. I’ve wanted it so much that I finally decided to make some of my own. It was a LOT of work, just because there are so many ingredients, but it was SO AMAZING that it didn’t matter. (cilantro lime rice, Cuban black beans, pulled pork, homemade salsa, corn, lettuce, and chipotle guacamole)
Did I mention I’m in love?

Here Comes the Bride...

...in about 30 years. I took this picture back in August and totally forgot about it. My wedding dress was out when we were visiting my parents’ house because Courtney had worn it for a church fashion show. I showed it to Kaili and of course she wanted to wear the veil. I couldn’t say no. :)

Girl's Night

Wednesday nights are Girl’s Night! Dan goes to church every Wednesday night so I pretty much have the girls all to myself all day long! Girl’s Night usually consists of eating leftovers, painting our nails, and watching America’s Next Top Model. Yes, that’s right, I rot my three year-old daughter’s brain out with garbage like that. It has now become something to look forward to instead of an overwhelming day on my own.

This last week was very exciting! Averi even joined in. =P
Kaili also got her fingernails done to match. I know, we had way too much fun, but that’s what Girl’s Night is all about!

Bathing Baby Yoki

Kaili has become quite the big sister, helper, and mother-in-training. She doesn’t skip a step and even keeps her dress dry (definitely not her mother’s daughter ;) ).

Slips

The other day I got out a box of hand-me-down clothes from my mom and took out the next size up for Kaili. She went ballistic when she saw all the puffy slips I found. She immediately put on all three of them and began dancing around the room. I giggled, one because it was really cute, and two because I remember doing the exact same thing, in the exact same slips, when I was little. She finally held still long enough for me to get a picture, but only if she could do a ballerina pose.

Window Paint

Several of Dan’s co-workers pooled together and bought a “happier days are coming” gift for our family. It was very thoughtful of them and the gifts were awesome! Dan and I got gift cards to a movie theater and Cheesecake Factory (which will eat a hole in my pocket for several more months before I can use it because Dan says we are not going there without buying cheesecake and I can’t eat dairy).

Kaili got two princess books with stickers, a puzzle, and window paint. She immediately wanted to paint every glass surface in the house. We made an ocean scene on the door. She started out wanting stencils and then gave up on them.Note the mermaid on the top left with “long yellow hair that touches the fish.”
We also put a crown on her bathroom mirror so she can wear it while I do her hair and left an “eye heart U” message and handprint for dad to find on his mirror. Now she asks me everyday if she can paint on the windows.
