Papa and Nama Fisher

Last week Dan’s parents came to visit for a whole week. It was wonderful! They are always so helpful, spoil Kaili like crazy, and stay up late with us playing games.

I think my “To Do” List is always cut in half after they leave. They cooked meals, bought Christmas presents, took Kaili to McDonald’s twice, swept out our garage, watched Kaili while I took Averi to her doctors’ appointments, cleaned our fish tank, and even painted.

Our half bath has been primer grey for a year and a half now and I finally decided it was time to paint it. I’ve also wanted to paint Averi’s room for a while but haven’t gotten around to it with all the soap operas I’ve been watching. We painted her room green and I love it!

We were so sad to see them go but I suppose we have to share them with the other siblings. :) Mom and Dad you have no idea how much we appreciate all you do. We love you tons! Please don’t be afraid of the snow and come back to see us soon.

Van Gogh

I recently packed up a box to send to my brother Brent whose on his mission in Uruguay. Kaili wanted to craw a picture for him and I loved it so much I had to take a picture before I sent it away (I almost kept it for myself). She used to draw people if I told her each specific body part but she drew this ALL BY HER SELF! I’m a proud mama, what can I say?Note the hands and feet. Every time she draws a person she adds another detail. As of late she has added a forehead, eyelashes, and even a bottom. This is slightly creepy but cool none the less.

Baby Leg Warmers

With Averi’s GJ-tube, it’s really hard to put pants and a onesie on her so I was super excited when my friend Brandy sent me a really easy pattern for making legwarmers. Now Averi can wear dresses and onesies and not freeze during our Ohio winters (not that it’s been cold this last week). They were so easy and cheap (not to mention adorable)! I can’t wait to find more cute socks so I can make some more. Here’s the link if you're feeling crafty: http://everythingyourmamamade.com/2008/01/21/make-your-own-baby-leg-warmers/

Hummus

With my new diet I have become a little more adventurous with what I eat. One of my recent indulgences has been hummus on rice cakes. The only problem is that I can eat a whole tub in one sitting and they are almost $4 a tub. So I decided to find a recipe and try to make it at home so I could have more of it and spend less money. It turned out pretty yummy although this picture doesn’t do it justice.
I learned a few things during this experience: chickpeas and garbanzo beans are the same thing (after searching high and low through the bags of dried beans for garbanzos), a 1 pound bag of beans is the equivalent of three 15 ounce cans (so I had to triple the recipe…did I mention making it myself would produce more than a tub?), and tahini, a major ingredient in hummus which consists of ground up sesame seeds, costs an arm and a leg, is the consistency of peanut butter, and when eaten plain tastes like the bottom of a shoe.
I had so much that I had to freeze some. Did I mention it was yummy?

Trick or Treat

The Trick is that I made you wait almost two weeks for this post and the Treat is pictures of my little Halloweeners!

First, I have to tell you about my first attempt at putting in sponge curlers. I went and bought some the week before Halloween and decided to try them out on a random week day so that if things didn’t go well, or Kaili couldn’t sleep on them and took them out during the night, she wouldn’t be walking around in public looking scary. So, I curled Kaili’s hair during our Wednesday Girl’s Night, forgetting that “Begger’s Night” here is on Thursday. (Yes, I think the name is ridiculous, and the fact that it is always on Thursday from 6 to 8 is also ridiculous.) It didn’t turn out how I had imagined, but it did look pretty cute! =PLuckily Kaili loved the curlers and wore them for almost 24 hours before letting me take them out. Here’s right after taking out the curlers.

The finished product. Can you say afro-chick? I swear all I did was run my fingers through it. I couldn’t stop laughing!
This year Kaili decided she wanted to be a purple mermaid (not purple mayonnaise like my mom thought she said over the phone). Randomly, Courtney had been a mermaid several years ago so my mom sent me a costume for an 8 year old and said I could alter it. I was really excited until I realized that my sewing machine hates this sparkly fabric. It was a process but I managed to make it fit little Miss Kaili. She was ecstatic!
I don’t see the point in buying costumes for babies so I was excited that Dan’s sister gave us a hand-me-down giraffe costume. With her whole body covered, Averi looked like a boy so I put a bow on the giraffe’s antler and called it good.
Kaili was too excited about trick or treating with the neighbor boys to turn towards the camera.
Dan went as himself, a Longhorns fan.
Our ward party was Friday night at a member’s house and it was a lot of fun. There was pumpkin bowling, a bonfire to roast hotdogs and marshmallows, and horse rides! Kaili rode the horse twice and LOVED it. I swear that girl’s not afraid of anything. She even liked her curls enough that she asked me to curl her hair again.
Two of Kaili’s friends: Saydria Wonder Woman and Kai the Pirate. (You gotta love Kai’s smile face!)
We had a great Halloween, minus the fact that I can’t eat any chocolate (darn milk). Well, there's always next year.

Sushi Anyone?

Please don't mind my sudden blog vomit - I was sick for a week and got behind on my posting. =P

My latest cake creation:
Happy Birthday Stephanie!

Halloween Cuties

I can’t stop taking pictures of my two little cuties!Kaili wanted to sit on the pumpkin.
Averi was not a fan of the cold sidewalk, but Kaili didn't let that mess up her pose.

Oh well, maybe next time.

K-Wal-Mart

Yes, you heard me correctly. K-Wal-Mart is the name of Kaili’s new store. She loves setting out toys on the coffee table (the store), making Dad ride the fake pony to her store, and asking for money (old gift cards) in exchange for a toy.The catch is that you can’t buy a toy that she really likes, even if it’s laid out on the table. She will, however, offer you the cheaper, uglier, not as fun version.

Chipotle

I have discovered a new love since moving to Ohio…Chipotle! Who doesn’t love a burrito rolled so full of the perfect combination of food that you can’t fit it in your mouth? Recently I have been craving it even more because, get this, I can eat it even while adhering to my strict no allergy diet. I’ve wanted it so much that I finally decided to make some of my own. It was a LOT of work, just because there are so many ingredients, but it was SO AMAZING that it didn’t matter. (cilantro lime rice, Cuban black beans, pulled pork, homemade salsa, corn, lettuce, and chipotle guacamole)
Did I mention I’m in love?

Here Comes the Bride...

...in about 30 years. I took this picture back in August and totally forgot about it. My wedding dress was out when we were visiting my parents’ house because Courtney had worn it for a church fashion show. I showed it to Kaili and of course she wanted to wear the veil. I couldn’t say no. :)
